New educational resources on biodiversity made by children for children

MaREI, SFI Centre for Energy, Climate and Marine at the Environmental Research Institute in University College Cork has launched a new set of educational resources on biodiversity for children as part of Science Week. These resources were co-created with children involved in the Children and Young People’s Assembly on Biodiversity Loss. Last year, the Assembly published 58 Calls to Action which included a call for enhanced education around biodiversity in Ireland. Inspired by this, TRYBE (Teaching Resources for Youth-informed Biodiversity Education) was formed, led by UCC and DCU and supported by the Biodiversity in Schools programme and the Irish Schools Sustainability Network, and funded by Science Foundation Ireland.

The Biodiversity Activity Book has fun activities to get children and young people engaged with their natural environment. The magic of this book is that every activity was designed by children, for children!  You can now download or request a copy of the Biodiversity Activity Book here: https://cyp-biodiversity.ie/resources/. The activity book will also available in Irish from this week and further resources will be published which can be used in classrooms or by clubs or at home, including this wonderful Biodiversity Activity Calendar.
